Ahorn

Since I’ve been to Canada, I don’t think that autumn is colourful in Germany anymore. There are mostly yellow or brown trees and in between some green ones. And if you are really lucky, you can find an orange coloured tree. But in Canada the Maple trees have a colour range that goes from orange over red even to dark red and they are everywhere.

Now one of this lovely maple trees was plant in front of the Mensa in Dresden and it is just so beautiful! I passed this tree very often lately, but today I finally took my camera with me and took a picture :)

I did it…

Lebkuchen.. I bought gingerbread in October O:)

Usually I’m always complaining that the supermarkets are full of such Christmas stuff even in summer. But this year is special. I won’t have gingerbread for Christmas. Therefore I have to pre-eat it, don’t I?! ;)

And it is sooooooooooooooooooo good! The package was finished in no time O:)

Tharandter Wald

tw_01 Since we where sitting inside the whole week we decided on a short trip into the nature on Sunday even though it was raining. So we additionally tested our recently waterproofed jackets and boots. They are waterproof :)

We decided to visit the Forest Park (Forstbotanischer Garten) in Tharandt of the TU Dresden. It was a nice walk in the forest and there where also trees which where especially colourful these days. Every tree and bush was labeled and so you could also learn something about them if you wished.  You have no idea what funny names trees can have ;)

If you are in the area, a visit is recommended!

From Jazz to Very Experimental Music

HfMDWhen I was travelling lately from Dresden main station, I got the chance to  take a look at a photo-exhibition in the main station building about new modern architecture in Saxony. I recognized different buildings around Dresden, but I also found a place I haven’t been before: the new concert hall of the “Hochschule für Musik – Carl Maria von Weber – Dresden”. So I checked their programm and found out that there is a saxophone concert this Friday. The programme was announcing new music from Jazz to very experimental music. Well, it was mostly VERY experimental music, but it was fun. And the concert hall is amazing! They have different concerts of their students every now and than and it’s really cheap for students. Its definitely worth giving it a chance :)

Joscho Stephan Quartet

Last Sunday I was to one of the best guitar concerts I’ve ever bin to – definitely!

In the course of the “Jazztage Dresden” the Jazz guitarist Joscho Stephan was playing at Schloss Lauenstein near Dresden. Besides Joscho Stephan, the  band consists of a bassist, a violist and a rhythm guitarist. All of them, amazingly good for themselves as well. You can hear a sample of them on youtube.

Christian stumbled over the advertisement of this venue while he was looking for a birthday present for a friend of him. And there were only two seats left in the very first row, directly in the middle. Lucky us! I could nearly touch the guitarists fingers while he was playing!

I was so impressed by their music, their passion, their technique… I couldn’t stop smiling. It was just so great! And yes, I did it again, I bought a CD – with four autographs :D

There are other great concerts coming to Dresden though the “Jazztage”, for example Al Di Miola is coming in November (when I’m already on abroad :( ). Additionally the International Guitar Night is touring Germany again in November, coming for example to Magdeburg, Jena and Dresden. If you like Guitar music, you will definitely love this! So check it out, its worth it.
